Arizona Adds Veteran Receiver Zay Jones After Workout

The Arizona Cardinals have added experience to their receiving group, signing veteran wideout Zay Jones following a workout with the team. The move gives the offense another proven option as the season moves forward.

Jones, a second round pick in 2017, has spent time with several organizations during his career, including Buffalo, Oakland, Jacksonville, and most recently Kansas City. He has shown the ability to contribute as both a possession target and a red zone threat when healthy, and his familiarity with pro level coverage schemes should help him settle in quickly.

Arizona has dealt with inconsistency in the passing game and limited depth at the position, so bringing in a player with starting experience addresses an obvious need. Jones will likely compete for snaps right away and could see targets depending on how quickly he picks up the playbook.

The signing is a low risk move for the Cardinals, who get a seasoned receiver without a long term commitment. For Jones, it is a chance to prove he can still produce in a meaningful role. Team officials have not indicated how soon he might be active on game day, but his workout reportedly left a positive impression on the coaching staff.
