Doubt Grows Around Lamar Jackson's Week 5 Availability

October 8, 2026 - 21:36

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has now missed two consecutive practices, raising real questions about whether he will be able to take the field in Week 5.

The absences mark a concerning turn for a team that depends heavily on Jackson's dual threat ability. Back to back missed sessions are not typical for a player who usually practices through minor bumps and bruises, which suggests the issue is more than routine maintenance.

Head coach John Harbaugh has not offered a firm timeline. When asked about the situation, he kept his comments brief and said the team would evaluate Jackson day by day. That kind of language often signals genuine uncertainty rather than caution for its own sake.

If Jackson cannot go, the offense would shift to a backup quarterback with far less experience running this system. The Ravens have leaned on Jackson's legs and arm in nearly every close game this season, so removing him changes the entire game plan. Coaches would likely simplify the playbook and ask the defense to carry more weight.

The next practice report should clarify things. If Jackson returns in limited fashion, optimism grows. If he misses a third straight session, the team may need to prepare as if he will not play at all.
