Falcons Offense Hits 40 Points With Penix Back Under Center

The Atlanta Falcons put together their most complete performance of the season on Sunday, rolling past their opponent 45-24 behind the return of quarterback Michael Penix Jr. The second-year passer had missed time with an injury, and his absence had clearly slowed a unit that now looks like the most dangerous group in football.

Atlanta averaged 40.0 points per game with Penix running the offense, a number that would lead the league by a wide margin. He finished the afternoon with three touchdown passes and added another score on the ground, picking apart the defense with quick reads and deep shots down the field.

The run game also found new life. With defenders forced to respect Penix's arm, rushing lanes opened up early and stayed open all afternoon. The Falcons scored on their first four possessions and never let the game get close.

What makes the performance more impressive is how balanced the attack looked. Penix spread the ball to six different receivers, and the offense converted on third down at a rate that kept drives alive.

If this version of the Falcons shows up every week, the rest of the league has a real problem. The offense is fast, physical, and finally healthy.
