As of this week, clubs are free to interview any TV analyst, no matter their current media deal. And that means a name like Troy Aikman is suddenly a very real possibility for a head coaching vacancy.

Aikman, who calls games for ESPN's Monday Night Football, has been open in the past about his interest in running a team. He has said he would listen if the right situation came along. Now, with the restriction lifted, teams can actually pick up the phone. The change came after the league and the NFL Players Association agreed to a new set of rules that removed the old barrier. The league's decision also affects other analysts, like Tony Romo and Peyton Manning, though neither has shown the same level of interest as Aikman. For now, the focus is on Aikman and whether any team actually makes a move. He has a lucrative contract with ESPN, so any team would have to buy him out or wait until his deal expires.
