Tom Brady Explains What Impresses Him About 49ers Quarterback Brock Purdy

October 1, 2026 - 12:48

Tom Brady has seen plenty of quarterbacks come and go during his time in the NFL, and he knows what separates the good ones from the great ones. So when he speaks about Brock Purdy, people listen.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion recently shared his thoughts on the San Francisco 49ers quarterback, praising Purdy for the way he has opened the 2026 season. Brady pointed to Purdy's poise and decision-making as the qualities that stand out most. According to Brady, Purdy does not try to do too much. He takes what the defense gives him, keeps the offense on schedule, and avoids the kind of costly mistakes that derail drives.

Brady also noted Purdy's ability to read defenses quickly and get the ball out of his hands. That trait, Brady said, is one of the most important for any quarterback playing at a high level. Purdy has shown he can handle pressure, move through his progressions, and find the open receiver even when the pocket collapses.

What may impress Brady most is Purdy's consistency. The 49ers quarterback has turned in strong performances week after week, and his command of the offense has helped San Francisco stay competitive in a tough division. Brady's comments add to the growing praise Purdy has received from around the league.

For Purdy, the recognition from a legend like Brady is meaningful. But the young quarterback has made it clear he cares more about winning games than collecting compliments. If he keeps playing the way he has, the praise will only continue to grow.
