The Las Vegas Raiders announced Thursday that quarterback Fernando Mendoza has signed his rookie contract and reported to training camp. The move comes after the team selected Mendoza as a top pick in this year's draft, locking in their long-term investment at the position.

Mendoza, who impressed scouts with his arm strength and mobility during the pre-draft process, will now compete for snaps in a crowded quarterback room. The Raiders have not disclosed the full financial terms of the deal, but rookie contracts for top selections typically include a signing bonus and guaranteed base salary over four years.

Head coach Josh McDaniels expressed confidence in Mendoza's ability to adapt quickly to the pro level. "He has the work ethic and the physical tools to develop into a leader for us," McDaniels said in a statement. "We are excited to get him on the field."
