Where are the Winter Olympics? 2026 venues to know

The 2026 Winter Olympics, officially known as Milano-Cortina 2026, will showcase athletic prowess across a spectacular and diverse range of Italian locations. Rather than being centered in a single city, the Games will utilize existing world-class venues spread throughout the Lombardy and Veneto regions, celebrating the rich culture and geography of Northern Italy.

The iconic opening ceremony is set for the historic San Siro Stadium in Milan, while the closing ceremony will take place in the stunning Verona Arena. The city of Milan itself will host ice hockey events at a renovated arena. Cortina d’Ampezzo, the famed alpine resort in the Dolomites, will be the heart of skiing, hosting alpine events like downhill and slalom on its legendary slopes.

Bormio returns to the Olympic stage for men’s alpine speed events, and Anterselva will provide the biathlon venue. The bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton competitions will thrill at the iconic Eugenio Monti track in Cortina. Other key locations include Livigno for freestyle skiing and snowboarding, Val di Fiemme for Nordic combined and ski jumping, and Baselga di Piné for speed skating.

This geographically distributed model emphasizes sustainability by maximizing use of pre-existing facilities, offering a unique Olympic experience against Italy's breathtaking alpine backdrop.
