Steelers' offensive keys to victory in Week 8 vs. Browns

The Pittsburgh Steelers head into Week 8 with a divisional matchup against the Cleveland Browns, and the offense will need to execute at a high level to come away with a win. Here are several keys to victory for Pittsburgh's offense.

First, the Steelers must establish the run early. Cleveland's defense is strong up front, but committing to the ground game will keep the offense in manageable down and distance while opening up play action later. Pittsburgh needs its running backs to churn out tough yards between the tackles and avoid negative plays that put the offense behind the chains.

Second, protecting the football is critical. The Browns thrive on creating turnovers and turning them into points. The Steelers cannot afford careless throws or fumbles in a game that figures to be tight and physical. Taking what the defense gives and avoiding forced passes into tight windows will be essential.

Third, Pittsburgh should attack the middle of the field with quick, high percentage throws. Getting the ball out fast neutralizes Cleveland's pass rush and keeps the chains moving. Tight ends and slot receivers can exploit soft spots in coverage and give the quarterback reliable options on early downs.

Finally, the offense must finish drives with points. Settling for field goals in the red zone will not be enough against a capable opponent. Converting scoring opportunities into touchdowns will be the difference in a hard fought divisional battle.
